Families For Improved Care

Family councils are gatherings of interested parties presided over by elected, non-staff individuals.  Membership includes family and friends of residents in a facility.  These, regularly held meetings encourage advocacy for all residents.

The nursing home

provides the meeting space.

...Family Councils are a way to empower yourself

             and are extremely important.

General Goals of a Family Council...

  • provide support for family members and friends of residents.

  • improve quality of life, well being, and happiness of residents.

  • provide input concerning the facility's decision-making.

  • act on shared concerns and problems.

  • promote positive attitudes toward aging and the role of long-term care.
