Career
development is needed because the severe labor shortage in the
health
care field is in the crisis stage. Nursing
home RN's,
LPN's, Nursing Assistants are just moving from
one home to another. There is no
reserve to draw
from. So our group is not going to
wait for the
state to provide funding for training to attract a
new class of caregivers. We are
approaching trade
schools and community colleges statewide to
develop a curriculum to attract and train people to
get into this vital field.
As
this progresses, we will
be going to the private sector and asking corporations
to provide scholarships or pay the tuition for
candidates who really want to plan a career in this
field.
